Hexagon’s Mining division is celebrating a five-star year for innovation, earning multiple awards and nominations that highlight the company’s leadership in safety, automation, and sustainability across the global mining industry.

Hexagon Drill Assist was named winner in the Drill & Blast category of Mining Magazine’s 2025 Excellence Awards, recognising its profound impact on mine productivity, sustainability, and safety.

Powered by artificial intelligence, Drill Assist delivers up to 50 percent productivity increases, reduces energy consumption and emissions, and turns a novice into a productive driller in just 15 minutes.

Hexagon also claimed the 2025 Mining Technology Excellence Award for Integrated Safety, recognising the company’s pioneering approach to operator protection through technology and change management. The award celebrates Hexagon’s unified safety platform, which integrates collision avoidance, operator alertness, and vehicle intervention systems to prevent incidents before they occur.

Safety was again in the frame with Hexagon Operator Alertness System (OAS) recognised by both Mining Magazine and the Australian Mining Prospect Awards for its role in transforming underground safety at MMG’s Rosebery mine in Tasmania.

As the first underground mine in Australia to deploy an operator alertness solution, MMG achieved remarkable outcomes: validated eye-closure events dropped by 65 percent within three months and critical fatigue incidents fell by 81 percent in a year.

Mining Magazine recognised Hexagon’s long-standing collaboration with Gold Fields in the Partnership category. Together, the companies have advanced an integrated safety ecosystem across multiple operations, tackling fatigue, distraction, and collision risks both above and below ground.

“Mining safety demands nothing less than excellence,” said Dave Goddard, President, Hexagon’s Mining division. “To earn recognition from industry and media leaders for our innovation and partnerships shows that our mission — to protect people and sustain productivity — is resonating globally. We’re proud to work alongside customers who share our vision of an autonomous, connected, and safer future.”
