Nordec will deliver the roof steel structures and additional steel elements for Fazer’s new chocolate factory in Lahti. The project is managed by Skanska, and the contract covers workshop drawings, production and installation.

The scope includes the roof trusses, beams and bracing, as well as approximately 32,000 square metres of load-bearing sheets and 2,000 square metres of steel decking. Production will start in late 2025, installation is scheduled for the first half of 2026, and the factory is scheduled to be operational in 2028.

Nordec’s delivery focuses on the roof structures, where precise tolerances and connection interfaces with the concrete frame are essential for smooth execution.

“For an industrial project of this scale, the interfaces between the steel roof structures and the concrete frame set the standard for the whole programme. With design, production and installation in one package, we can control quality from start to finish,” says Vesa Keltikangas, Project Manager, Nordec.
