Nordec has signed an agreement with Gruvaktiebolaget Viscaria to build the processing plant structure for the Viscaria mine in Kiruna, Sweden. The plant will support the return of copper mining operations in the area.

Nordec’s scope includes groundworks, foundations, the structural steel and concrete frame and the building envelope for the processing plant. The buildings will cover approximately 14 000 m² and are designed to accommodate heavy mineral‑processing equipment and the technical systems required for plant operations.

“We are excited to be chosen as a key supplier for the Viscaria mine processing plant and appreciate the trust placed in Nordec. Our close cooperation with Viscaria will support the successful delivery of the project and we look forward to the work ahead,” says Kalle Luoto, CEO, Nordec.

The Viscaria mine in Kiruna is being developed by Gruvaktiebolaget Viscaria and aims to restart copper production in the historic mining area. Construction of the processing plant building is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 with completion expected in 2027.
