Metso has successfully completed the divestment of its Ferrous business to SMS group, a global company providing technology and services in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the metals industry.

The businesses divested include, for example, the travelling grate pelletizing and CircoredTM direct reduction process, as well as the related service business. Approximately 180 employees, primarily based in Germany, India and China, have transferred to the SMS group in connection with the divestment.

The divestment of the Ferrous business was announced on May 30, 2025.
