Metso has successfully completed the divestment of its Ferrous business to SMS group, a global company providing technology and services in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the metals industry.
The businesses divested include, for example, the travelling grate pelletizing and CircoredTM direct reduction process, as well as the related service business. Approximately 180 employees, primarily based in Germany, India and China, have transferred to the SMS group in connection with the divestment.
The divestment of the Ferrous business was announced on May 30, 2025.
Metso is a frontrunner in sustainable technologies, end-to-end solutions and services for the aggregates, minerals processing and metals refining industries globally.
Metso is headquartered in Espoo, Finland. At the end of 2024 Metso had close to 17,000 employees in around 50 countries, and sales in 2024 were about EUR 4.9 billion. Metso is listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki.
