Metso has signed a contract with Kuminex Steels Pvt. Ltd. for the delivery of a traveling grate pelletizing plant in Hospet, Karnataka, India. It will be Metso’s first modular Compact-sized Pellet Plant, tailored to the needs of emerging players in India’s dynamic steel market. The order value of EUR 11 million has been recognized in the Ferrous business 2025 fourth-quarter order intake. The Ferrous business is currently being divested and reported as discontinued operations.
Metso’s scope of delivery covers the engineering and design of the plant, along with the supply of proprietary equipment, instrumentation, and control systems. In addition, Metso will also provide supervisory services and technical training.

The plant will have a capacity of 1.5MTPA, with pellet production expected to begin by mid-2027. Designed on the state-of-the-art principles of Metso’s larger product range and based on a three meter wide indurating machine, this compact plant will deliver the same high performance and premium product quality as Metso’s full-scale traveling grate pelletizing plants. It will also feature Metso’s advanced digital tools like VisioPelletTM and OptimusTM to boost efficiency and reliability.
