Russia may start search of minerals on Moon

The Nuclon space complex, - a Russian space complex with a nuclear power plant will search minerals at the surface of the Moon during its forthcoming space mission, according to recent statements, made by some senior officials of the Russian government and some local media reports.


As part of these plans, the complex will focus on the conducting imaging (including radar) of certain areas of the Moon, including cryolithospheric resources, for the purpose of a search of minerals at the surface of the Moon.


As part of the mission, there are also plans to conduct surface mapping, and determine areas with subsurface voids and anomalous conductivity, that could be potentially considered as sources of some strategic minerals.


The name of the minerals, that could be discovered at the Moon are not currently disclosed.
