Metso presented a new fully mobile pit solution at Mines and Technology conference
A fully mobile pit solution, which is used at Altay polymetals and copper mine in Kazakhstan was introduced on this years conference Mines and Technology in Helsinki by global product manager Eric Lavieville from Metso.
- Metso’s brand new system with Lokotrack LT200E primary plant lives fully up to our expectations, said Eric Lavieville to the conference participants.
Altay Polimetally LLP will extract gold-bearing copper ore at the new mine. The planned ore extraction will be 3 million tons per year, and including host rock, 10 million tons.
The development of the Koktaszhal deposit in Kazakhstan is an ore mineral project initiated by Altay Polymetals. It combines innovative technology, environmentally friendly production and social orientation. The project is funded by the company´s own funds and is export oriented.
Previous Metso agreements with Altay Polimetally LLP included the world's biggest Lokotrack mobile crushing plant followed by the delivery and installation of secondary, tertiary and quaternary crushing and screening plants.
- Our aim is to crush 20 million tons per year or 3200 t/h with this fully mobile ITPS solution.
According to Lavieville, the Lokotrack LT200E mobile jaw crusher plant is designed for large-scale primary crushing applications inside the pit, right next to the blasting operations. The plant utilizes Metso’s Nordberg C200, the biggest jaw crusher in the world. For smooth and uninterrupted material flow, you can feed on average 1200 mm boulders to the crusher’s 2000 x 1500 mm cavity. In order to ensure material flow also with occasional oversize rocks, the plant is equipped with Metso’s rock breaker.
- In the Kazakhstan mine we equipped the primary crusher with Lokolink belt conveyor solution. Replacing dump truck haulage with the Lokotrack & Lokolink belt conveyor system can achieve very substantial savings in operating costs. Once the material has been crushed, belt conveying is by far the most cost efficient way of transporting the material. Eliminating the haulage fleet means lower levels of dust and exhaust gas emissions. A further benefit is the improved working safety, said Eric Lavieville.
Metso has also speeded up the performance of Altay Polimetally's new copper mine with an energy efficient, quick-to-install grinding solution.
Kazakhstan-based Altay Polimetally has placed several big orders with Metso since 2013.
Metso has delivered two VERTIMILL Grinding Mills, basic engineering, supervision, commissioning and transportation. These deliveries followed previous contracts for the installation and delivery of crushing and screening plants.
Metso's proposal for an integrated solution complied with Altay's requirements for operating efficiency and total cost solutions optimizing their polymetallic ore processing.
The 4500 HP VERTIMILL grinding mill used at primary grinding stage produces in a closed circuit with fine screens an approximate feed size of 90 percent passing 3 mm grinding to a product of 80 percent passing 75 microns.
The two VTM-4500-C chosen for this application are the biggest in the range with combined energy efficiency, low media consumption and increased end-product, all factors which weighed significantly in the customer's final choice.
